ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's gymnastics head coach Bev Plocki announced Wednesday (Nov. 13) the signings of five standouts to National Letters of Intent for the 2014-15 year. The signees include Brianna Brown (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West), Ilana Gordon (San Carlos, Calif./Saint Francis), Cailee Hills(Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School), Mandy Klun (Westmont, Ill./Westmont) and Lauren Marinez (Orlando, Fla./The Classical School of the First Academy).
"We are very excited about this class," Plocki said. "All five of these individuals should have the ability to come in and make an immediate impact within our program. They are a hard-working group of young women both in the gym and in the classroom. We know they will represent our program very well."

Brianna Brown West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West
Brown is a former senior international elite (will return to Level 10 this year) and trains at Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy (CGA) in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a member of the 2011-12 U.S. Junior National Team after finishing 12th in the all-around at the VISA Championships, a 13-place improvement from a year earlier at the same event. Brown finished seventh in the all-around at the 2012 Secret U.S. Classic in Chicago and tied for ninth in the all-around at the 2011 Covergirl Classic (junior division).
Also in 2011, at the American Classic in Huntsville, Texas, she finished first on uneven bars, third on balance beam, fifth in the all-around and eighth in floor exercise. Brown has international experience, representing the U.S. at the 2012 City of Jesolo Trophy in Italy, taking seventh on floor exercise.
Ilana Gordon San Carlos, Calif./Saint Francis
Gordon is a Level 10 gymnast who trains at Airbourne Gymnastics in Santa Clara, Calif. In July 2009, she competed at the 18th Maccabi Games in Israel as part of the Junior National Team, winning a silver medal on vault and helping the team win a silver medal, as well. She has seen success since the beginning of last season, winning uneven bars, floor exercise and the all-around at the Flips USA Invitational and taking third in the all-around at both the Long Beach Open and the California Classic.
She is a two-time J.O national qualifier and a four-time L10 California state champion, winning vault twice (2012-13), all-around (2013) and uneven bars (2013). Gordon has made two appearances at J.O. Nationals (2012-13) and also has a top-10 finish at the 2011 J.O. National Invitational Tournament.
Cailee Hills Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School
Hills is a Level 10 gymnast who trains at Southeastern Gymnastics in Weddington, N.C. She is a three-time J.O. national qualifier and holds 20 event and all-around titles at the state, regional and national levels, including five North Carolina state championships and two Region 8 championships.
At 2012 J.O. Nationals, Hills took fifth on both uneven bars and balance beam and placed sixth in the all-around. Outside of the gym, she has received the President's Volunteer Service Award (logging more than 100 hours of community service) and was a recipient of the AP Scholar Award.
Mandy Klun Westmont, Ill./Westmont
Klun is a Level 10 gymnast who trains at Illinois Gymnastics Institute (IGI) in Westmont, Ill. She is a four-time J.O. national qualifier, finishing 10th in the all-around in 2009 and 15th in 2011. She also took second on vault and uneven bars in 2011.
She is a three-time Region 5 champion, winning vault and uneven bars titles in 2010 and a balance team title in 2011 and is a six-time L10 Illinois state champion, including all-around titles in 2010 and 2011. Like Brown and Gordon, Klun also has international experience, serving as a member of the 2010 and 2011 Region 5 All-Star Teams that traveled to Slovenia, Italy and Brazil.
Lauren Marinez Orlando, Fla./The Classical School of the First Academy
Marinez is a former international elite and current Level 10 gymnast who trains at Orlando Metro Gymnastics in Orlando, Fla. She is a two-time J.O. national qualifier and has also competed twice at both the VISA Championships (2010-11) and Nastia Liukin Cup (2011-12). She has two top-10 finishes on balance beam at the VISA Championships, taking fourth in 2011 and eighth in 2010.At the 2013 L10 Florida State Championships, Marinez won both balance beam and the all-around. She finished second in the all-around at the 2009 Regional Championships and second in the all-around at the 2008 Eastern National Championships. She is also a three-year honor roll student.
The Wolverines graduate a five-member senior class at the end of the season.
