ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's lacrosse team notched a program-best 19 goals in a dominating victory over the Fresno State Bulldogs, 19-6, on Saturday (April 26) its regular-season finale at Michigan Stadium. U-M used a 7-0 run that started at 5:17 of the first half and carried into the second stanza to pull away, while the Wolverine defense allowed just a single goal in the second half

Freshman Jess Angerman (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) and freshman Tess Korten (Glen Head, N.Y./North Shore) notched four goals and one assist each. Angerman tallied her first two early in the first half, giving Michigan a 2-0 lead a little more than five minutes into the game. Korten netted three of her four off free-position opportunities, one of which came while Michigan was playing one player down.

Freshman Allie Breitfeller (East Northport, N.Y./Northport), who finished the game with her first career hat trick, tallied her first goal of the game curling around from behind the cage, across the crease and putting the ball in the top left corner of the net, giving Michigan the 3-1 lead at the 23:18 mark in the first half. Her second goal came on an assist from Angerman, who hit Breitfeller flying up the left side of the field. She completed the hat trick late in the second half, as she received a dish from Korten in the center of the eight meter during a U-M man-up opportunity to give the Maize and Blue a 10-goal lead, 16-6, with 6:06 remaining in the game.

Freshmen Amanda Sutor (Phoenix, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls), Kim Coughlan (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Saint Anthony's) and Anna Schueler (Chicago, Ill./Loyola Academy) all chipped in two goals on the day. Sutor's pair of scores marked her first career multi-goal game. Spinning to the center of the crease, Sutor shot low left with 18:19 to go in the first half to tally her first goal of the game. Then, less than a minute into the second, she ripped a shot from the top of the eight meter to record her second score.

With just 16 seconds remaining in the game, freshman Sarah Lugo (Bolingbrook, Ill./Montini Catholic) was fouled and awarded a free-position attempt. On the whistle, she took one step and rocket the ball into the bottom right corner.

In goal, freshman Allison Silber (Phoenix, Md./McDonogh School) recorded nine saves and the win, while sophomore/freshman Sydney Franko (Northville, Mich./St. Mary's Academy [Colo.]) made her career debut with a save and a ground ball.

Up next, the Wolverines will battle against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the first round of the American Lacrosse (ALC) Tournament, which will be hosted from May 1-4 by Northwestern in Evanston, Ill. The second meeting between the two teams this season is set to start at 7 p.m. CDT.
