ACCORDING TO LILY
Strath Haven High School
What attracted you to the University of Michigan?
"I was looking for a school with strong academics and athletics. I found both at Michigan. The atmosphere and tremendous pride expressed by students and alumni everywhere convinced me that Michigan was the right school. I see people everywhere I go wearing the block M. Everyone is friendly and excited to cheer 'GO BLUE!'"
What are your thoughts about continuing to help Michigan build its women's lacrosse program?
"I want to have an impact on the program and help it achieve great things. This team is making history and I am very fortunate to be a part of building this program. I intend to learn everything I can from Michigan's talented and experienced coaches and bring it on the field!"
What do you like about Michigan/Ann Arbor from what you've seen so far?
"The town of Ann Arbor gives me a sense of home and belonging to a community. I can picture myself at Michigan even after I graduate. There is always something to do or a team to cheer for. I already watch the Big Ten Network and I can't wait to be a part that great conference."
What is your favorite lacrosse moment of all-time?
"My favorite lacrosse moment was my last fall tournament with my club team in Naples, Fla. It was our last hurrah and an experience that I was able to share with my teammates who have become my best friends."
How did you first get involved in lacrosse?
"I became involved in lacrosse because it was a sport played and enjoyed by my sister, Alyssa. Lacrosse was her favorite sport and she encouraged me to play. Her love of the game rubbed off on me."
Any talents or hobbies you will share?
"Another favorite activity of mine is horseback riding. I compete in jumper shows on my horse Beau. I placed at Devon!"
Who is your role model, and why?
"My role model is my cross country and indoor track coach Bill Coren. Coach Coren showed me that you don't have to be built a certain way to be an athlete but you must have the motivation and drive to become one. Because of him, I pushed myself past what I thought were my limits. He taught me to strive to be the best athlete I can be by being mentally positive and always committing to work my hardest, because Coach Coren said I if I did this I would be the best athlete I could be."
What do you enjoy doing when you're not playing lacrosse?
"I enjoy spending time with my friends, family and pets. I also enjoy working at the stable where I board my horse."
