ERIE, Pa. -- Freshman Anna Schueler (Chicago, Ill./Loyola Academy) of the University of Michigan women's lacrosse team received the program's first American Lacrosse Conference (ALC) weekly honor on Wednesday, March 26, as she was named the conference's Rookie of the Week.
In Michigan's pair of games last week, Schueler combined for eight points (6G, 2A), nine draw controls, three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
In a narrow 14-12 loss to Winthrop (March 20), Schueler notched her first career hat trick, finishing with three goals, one assist, a career-best six draw controls, two caused turnovers and a ground ball. At No. 10 Penn State, she recorded her second straight hat trick and also added an assist, three draw controls, one caused turnover and one ground ball pickup.
Schueler, a member of the team's 2014 Leadership Council, has now scored at least one goal in all but one game this season, including each of the last six, and has tallied five multiple-goal performances. Through eight games this season, she is tied for the team lead in points with 17 and has a team-best 14 goals.
Following Michigan's game against UC Davis this Sunday (March 30) at 1 p.m. inside Michigan Stadium, Schueler and the rest of the Wolverines will be signing autographs on the field. Tickets for the UC Davis matchup, as well as U-M's four other home games, are available at the U-M ticket office or online at MGoBlue.com/tickets.
