ERIE, Pa. -- Freshman Anna Schueler (Chicago, Ill./Loyola Academy) of the University of Michigan women's lacrosse team was awarded her second straight American Lacrosse Conference (ALC) Rookie of the Week honor for her career-best performance that led U-M to its first win in program history, the conference announced on Wednesday (April 2).
In Michigan's game against UC Davis on Sunday (March 30), Schueler scored a career-best five goals, including the game-winner in double overtime. In addition to her five goals, which ties a program record for most goals in a single game, Schueler also added one assist, four draw controls, two ground balls and a caused turnover in the win.
A member of the team's 2014 Leadership Council, Schueler has scored at least one goal in all but one game this season, including each of the last seven. She has tallied six multiple-goal performances this season and has scored three or more goals in each of the last three games. Through nine games this season, she leads the Wolverines with a team-best 23 points, 19 goals and 29 draw controls.
Schueler received the program's first ALC weekly recognition a week ago (March 26), when she earned the conference's Rookie of the Week.
Schueler and the Wolverines will take on Ohio State in an ALC matchup tonight (Wednesday, April 2) at 7 p.m. inside Michigan Stadium. The game was announced as a Maize Out and all fans are encouraged to wear maize-colored clothing to maize out the Buckeyes. Tickets for the Ohio State matchup, as well as U-M's three other home games, are available at the U-M ticket office or online at MGoBlue.com/tickets.
