ERIE, Pa. -- Freshman Sara Beach (Towson, Md./Towson) of the University of Michigan women's lacrosse team was selected to the American Lacrosse Conference (ALC) All-Tournament Team on Sunday, May 4, after leading the Wolverine defense in their ALC Tournament first round matchup against No. 10 Ohio State on May 1.

In the opening round of Michigan's first and only appearance in the ALC Tournament, Beach had one of her best defensive performances of the season, recording a career-high four draw controls, as well as two ground balls and one caused turnover. Her four draw controls accounted for 50 percent of U-M's draws in the game. In addition to her stat line, Beach held Ohio State's point leader, Jackie Cifarelli, who was averaging 2.53 assists per game coming into the tournament, to just one goal and one assist on the day.

Beach and the Wolverines fell just shy of the program's first postseason victory, 12-8, against the 10th-ranked Buckeyes.

The Florida Gators, the 2014 ALC regular-season champions, captured the ALC Tournament title for the second time in three years. UF's Shannon Gilroy was named the tournament's MVP.
