Every other week, the women's lacrosse staff will countdown 101 ways to help you get to know the program before the first team steps foot on campus in August 2013. Go Blue!
Did you know ...
"We will be hiring another full-time assistant coach, as well as a volunteer coach by the spring to complete our staff. This is an exciting time for Michigan lacrosse as we continue to lay the foundation for our program. I'm looking forward to having a full staff on board in preparation for our first class coming next fall, 2013." - Coach Ulehla
100. Coach Valore and Shalini each have previous connections with coach Ulehla.
"Jen (Valore) played for me for four years at James Madison University. She was a captain and defender on the 2000 team, which made it to the Final Four. She was also my assistant coach for two years at Temple University. Shalini landed at the University of Florida as the director of volleyball operations in 2010, just after I left. Our offices would have been two doors down from one another. Although our paths did not cross at Florida, she came highly recommended and fit what we were looking for. Both Jen and Shalini have been tremendous additions to our staff." - Coach Ulehla
99. Coach Valore attended her first Michigan football game in the Big House against Air Force on Sept. 8. The Wolverines won, 31-25.
"It really is a 'wow' experience. The energy and excitement that radiates from campus on game day is contagious and walking into the Big House along with over 100,000 other Michigan fans is a sporting-event atmosphere like no other. Everywhere you look there is a sea of Maize and Blue for miles. It's hard not to feel truly grateful you get to be part of such a special experience." - Coach Valore
98. The next month is going to be filled with excitement as all three members of the women's lacrosse staff will be celebrating birthdays -- coach Ulehla on Sept. 29, Shalini on Oct. 2 and coach Valore on Oct. 26.
Each member of the staff shared what is on their birthday wish list, as well as their favorite kind of cake and ice cream:
Coach Ulehla - "What I really want is to have steamed crabs flown in from Maryland, but I would settle for crab cakes. My favorite kind of cake is jumbo lump Maryland crab cake (haha). My favorite kind of ice cream is peanut butter chocolate, but I have a slight sensitivity to peanut butter, so I'll go with mint chocolate chip!"
Coach Valore - "For my birthday, I would love for my house in Philadelphia to close as scheduled at the end of October! My favorite kind of cake is vanilla ice cream cake with chocolate crunchies. My favorite kind of ice cream is soft-serve vanilla ice cream with sunflower butter (I’m allergic to peanuts) and marshmallow."
Shalini - "For my birthday I want to go sky diving again. I went for my birthday last year and it was a lot of fun. My favorite birthday treat is confetti cake with green tea ice cream."
