Women's Lacrosse Student-Athlete Spotlight: Allie Breitfeller

Allie Breitfeller is a three-time varsity letterwinner (2010, '11, '12) and will play her final season as an attacker for Northport High School (Northport, N.Y.) this spring.

The highlight of Breitfeller's high school career to date came during her sophomore season when she helped lead her team to the N.Y. State Class A State championship.

Breitfeller made an immediate impact in her first year on the varsity squad and was named the Suffolk Country Unsung Hero Award recipient as a freshman. Following her junior year, she received all-division and all-tournament team recognition, and also earned Academic All-American accolades for her efforts on the field and in the classroom.

As a member of the LI Elite Yellow Jackets lacrosse club, Breitfeller helped her team win the U15 national title in 2011, three-straight Lax for the Cure championships (2010-12), the National Draw championship in 2010, as well as the Galaxy National title in 2011.

Off the field, Breitfeller is an Honor Roll student, as well as a member of the National Honor Society and Foreign Language Honor Society.

What attracted you to the University of Michigan?
"I wanted to be a part of the something great!"

What are your thoughts about being part of Michigan's first women's lacrosse team?
"To start a new lacrosse program at a university like Michigan, where tradition and history are the backbone of the school, is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I am grateful to be a part of."

How has it been getting to know your future Wolverine teammates?
"Everyone that I have met on my team is so nice. I feel that we are all going to be great friends."

What do you like about Michigan/Ann Arbor from what you've seen so far?
"I'm impressed by the amazing support that Ann Arbor has for the University of Michigan. I know that the people of Ann Arbor will be there cheering us on when we take the field for the first time."

What is your favorite lacrosse moment of all-time?
"Winning the state championship with my high school lacrosse team my sophomore year!"

How did you first get involved in lacrosse?
"My mom got me involved in lacrosse in first grade because she thought that I would love it -- she was right!"

Do you have any talents or hobbies that you're willing to share? If so, please explain.
"I am a second degree black belt in Ju Jitsu. I received my black belt at the age of nine."

Who is your role model and why?
"My mom, she is such an amazing woman. She is always very supportive of my sister and me. I truly admire everything about her."
