AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Michigan rowing team traveled to the University of Texas for exhibition races today (Sunday, Feb. 9) at Lady Bird Lake. The Wolverines had three eights in the workouts (1v, 2v, 3v) matching the Longhorns three eights.
The workouts consisted of three six-minute pieces with a stroke rate at 26 for the first two pieces and 28 for the last piece. The event was run in three flights, with one Michigan boat matching each Texas boat. The Wolverines won each of the pieces by open water.
"It was a very successful trip, and it was great to get on the water and race some good competition in the University of Texas," said head coach Mark Rothstein. "We look forward to getting back on the water next weekend when we head to Florida."
U-M returns to exhibition racing next Sunday (Feb. 16) when the team heads to Orlando, Fla., for an 8 a.m. start against UCF.
