Michigan Sweeps Racing against Miami to Conclude Tampa Trip

TAMPA, Fla. -- The University of Michigan rowing program completed its exhibition schedule on Saturday (March 8) with a strong showing in a scrimmage against the University of Miami (Fla.), concluding a week of training on the Hillsborough River.

The Wolverines and Canes completed four runs at a length of 1,000 meters, with racing in four pieces including a 1V8+, a 2V8+ and two V4+ boats from both teams. Michigan swept all pieces against Miami.

Michigan will open the spring season in three weeks against Indiana and Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio. Rowing will take place at 9 a.m. on the Griggs Reservoir on the Scioto River. Ohio State is the defending Big Ten and NCAA champion.

U-M returns 16 of 23 rowers from the first varsity eight, second varsity eight and first varsity four that competed at last year's NCAA Championships. Six of the nine rowers return from the FV8 and SV8 as well as four of the five athletes from the FV4.
