INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The University of Michigan rowing team continued its quest for a top 10-finish at the NCAA Championships today (Saturday, June 1) at Eagle Creek Park. The Wolverines' 1V8 and 1V4 boats placed sixth in their A/B semifinals, and the 2V8 race was suspended until Sunday morning (June 2) due to high winds.
The first varsity eight boat clocked a time of 7:37.729, while the first varsity four boat logged a time of 8:02.693. Both boats will race in the petite finals tomorrow (Sunday, June 2). The 1V8 will compete against Harvard, UCLA, Yale, Brown and Stanford for places 7-12. The race will be the second-to-last race of the NCAA competition and will begin at 10 a.m. The 1V4 boat will race against California, Princeton, Stanford, Notre Dame and Yale to decide places 7-12. The race is scheduled to begin at 9:20 a.m.
The NCAA initially delayed the C/D semifinal races of the second varsity eight boats due high winds. After a few hours, the races were suspended until Sunday at 8 a.m.
