BELLEVILLE, Mich. -- The University of Michigan rowing team closed out the 2011 fall season with the annual Belleville Classic yesterday (Friday, Nov. 4), racing against the Michigan men's club rowing team at Belleville Lake.

The men's senior varsity eight boat (12:16.6) and the women's first varsity eight boat (13:00.5) each set men's and women's course records. The race was a head race format and featured 18 boats racing at once. The boats were put in order with the slower boats starting first and the fastest boats starting later, which resulted in all boats crossing the finish line at nearly the same time. The women's second novice eight crossed the finish line first and took home the Log Trophy.

The Wolverines will now spend the winter months training indoors before kicking off their official spring season on Saturday, March 3, against Miami in Tampa, Fla.
