ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's rowing team will open the season listed seventh nationally in the CRCA/USRowing Coaches poll presented by Pocock Racing Shells. Last season, the Wolverines finished as the NCAA runner-up to national champion Virginia.

Michigan received 345 overall votes from the coaches, three votes behind Big Ten rival Ohio State for sixth place. Virginia tops the preseason poll followed by California, Princeton, Southern California and Washington in the top five. The other Big Ten schools listed in the top 20 are No. 12 Wisconsin and No. 16 Michigan State.

Michigan will face Big Ten and in-state rival Michigan State and Iowa this weekend in East Lansing. The races will begin tomorrow (Saturday, March 30) at 9 a.m.
