ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 2-ranked University of Michigan women's rowing team collected five Scholar-Athlete awards, five All-Region selections and the Central Region Coach of the Year, as selected by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association.
Julia Darnton (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer), Nicole Dressler (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer), Lindsey Healy (Troy, Mich./Madison Heights Bishop Foley), Emily Idoni (Fenton, Mich./Fenton) and Colleen Macke (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) all earned Scholar-Athlete recognition from the CRCA. In order to be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be in at least her second year of eligibility and maintained a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA throughout her career.
Healy and Macke, along with Emily Eiffert (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) and Felice Mueller (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Pomfret School, Conn.), also earned CRCA first team All-Central Region honors, while Darnton was named CRCA All-Central Region second team.
Head coach Mark Rothstein, who was recently named Big Ten Coach of the Year, earned Central Region Coach of the Year recognition.
Michigan recently earned its fourth straight team bid to the NCAA Championships, being named the second overall seed in both the first and second varsity eight events and 11th in the varsity four race.
