WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -- University of Michigan rower Jessica Eiffert (Honeoye Falls, N.Y/Honeoye Falls-Lima) has earned a spot on USRowing's Under 23 (U23) World Championship team after finishing first in pair qualification with partner Aggie Nowinski at Mercer Lake. Eiffert's pair won the women's B 2- final in 7:21.42 to qualify for U23 World Championships, to be held from July 23-27 in Varese, Italy.
Selected to represent USRowing at the U23 World Championship Trials, which included select women's events, Eiffert won her heat on Monday (June 23) to qualify for this morning's final. Eiffert and Nowinski finished 22.85 seconds ahead of their closest competition to earn a bid to the world championships.
Eiffert and Bryna Oleshansky (Knoxville, Tenn./Bearden) were invited to USRowing U23 National Team selection camp in Berkeley, Calif., which began on June 8. Oleshansky is attempting to make the USRowing U23 Team as part of the four or the eight boats. The full U.S. Under 23 National Team roster will be announced by July 11.
Eiffert will return to Michigan this fall as a senior for the Wolverines.
