ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Two former members of the University of Michigan women's rowing team have been chosen to represent their country at the upcoming Olympic games, as Sarah Trowbridge (2003-05) and Janine Hanson (2003-06) have been named to the American and Canadian Olympic teams, respectively.
Trowbridge will represent the U.S. in the women's double sculls event after dominating the final race of the Olympic qualification on May 22. Hanson was named to the nine-person roster for Canada's women's eight boat on Thursday, June 22. One member of the roster will be named an alternate.
This will be the first Olympics for Trowbridge, who has also competed internationally in the FISA World Championships twice and once at the Pan-American Games.
Hanson will be going to her second Olympic games, having participated in the 2008 games in Beijing. Hanson is a three-time member of the Canadian team at the FISA World Championships.
