2013-14 U-M Rowing Schedule

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan rowing head coach Mark Rothstein today (Friday, Aug. 2) announced the program's schedule for the upcoming 2013-14 season, highlighted by a pair of home competitions on Belleville Lake, as well as three more home exhibitions, including the Belleville Classic on Nov. 1.

"I am really excited about our racing schedule for this upcoming year," said head coach Mark Rothstein. "We will see some new programs that we don't always get a chance to race and, and at the same time, we will keep the important rivalries that have been established over the past 20 years."

The Maize and Blue begins the regular season at defending national champion Ohio State on March 29 and then continues on the road against Oregon State (April 5) and Stanford (April 6) in Corvalis, Ore. The following week the Wolverines compete against Minnesota and Wisconsin (April 12) in East Lansing, Mich.

U-M races on Belleville Lake for the first time on April 19 against defending ACC champion Virginia as well as Notre Dame during the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

Michigan stays at home for its next meet, hosting both Louisville and Michigan State on May 3. The Big Ten Championships will take place on May 18 in Indianapolis, Ind., followed by the NCAA Championship on May 30 and 31. Last season, Michigan took second at the Big Ten meet, with one first-place boat finish (2V4).

The Wolverines will once again compete in the prestigious Head of the Charles regatta, the world's largest two-day rowing event, during the fall season (Oct. 27).

U-M begins its fall exhibition season with two home meets, beginning with a dual against Michigan State and Notre Dame on Sept. 15, and then will host an exhibition with Ohio State on Oct. 6. U-M will also play host once again to the Belleville Classic on Nov. 1.

The Wolverines will race in three exhibitions in Florida during February and March, two at Miami and one at Central Florida.

"I am particularly excited that we are hosting five home races this year," says Rothstein. "We have a fantastic venue and we look forward to some great home competition."
