MALIBU, Calif. -- In the finale of its two-game road swing through Southern California, the University of Michigan women's soccer team came up short, 3-0, at No. 24 Pepperdine on Sunday (Sept. 4) at Tari Frahm Rokus Field. The loss snapped the Wolverines' four-game winning streak.

Pepperdine led 1-0 on a goal in the 16th minute from Anisa Guajardo, who poked the ball up and over the head of senior/junior goalkeeper Haley Kopmeyer (Troy, Mich./Lahser).

Freshman Kate Maguigan (Franklin, Tenn./Page) nearly provided the equalizer in the 72nd minute, but her shot bounced off the crossbar. The Waves took control of the game at that point, netting two goals in the next five minutes to take a commanding 3-0 lead.

Michigan recorded seven shots on goal in the game, with three of them coming from senior/junior Clare Stachel (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central). Kopmeyer recorded four saves in net.

The Wolverines return to the U-M Soccer Stadium next weekend for a pair of home matches, first hosting in-state foe Western Michigan on Friday (Sept. 9) at 7:30 p.m.
