ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Head coach Greg Ryan of the University of Michigan women's soccer team announced Thursday (July 3) the additions of Emma Groffsky (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Bloomfield Hills) and Ani Sarkisian (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill/Florida State) to the 2014 roster.

"We believed our freshman class was already strong, but with Emma and Ani coming in, it will be even stronger," Ryan said. "As with the rest of the class, both Emma and Ani possess a great deal of skill and talent. They're going to add great depth to our attack and will be ready to compete from the moment they step on campus."

Groffsky, a 5-foot-3 midfielder from nearby Bloomfield Hills, was a two-year varsity letterwinner. She started every match as a freshman at Andover High School, leading her to be named an All-State Honorable Mention. She missed her sophomore season due to injury and did not play high school soccer as a junior or senior. She has played with Vardar Soccer Club since 2010.

Sarkisian, a 5-foot-8 midfielder/forward, comes to Michigan after redshirting her freshman season at Florida State. She will have four years of eligibility remaining and will be eligible to play immediately. She played for the same club, Players Development Academy (PDA), as current players Jessica Heifetz (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) and Anna Soccorsi (Yardley, Pa./The Pennington School [NJ]). Sarkisian was a four-year starter and two-sport athlete at Cresskill High School in northern New Jersey, scoring 109 career goals. She was named to the NJGSCA North 1 All-State Team during all four of her years and was also a three-time All-County and All-League selection.

With Groffsky and Sarkisian, Michigan's freshman class is now up to 11 players. They are joined in that class by goalkeeper Megan Hinz (Eldersburg, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel), defender Alyssa Dillon (Plymouth, Mich./Plymouth), midfielder Niki Wilkinson (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./Palos Verdes), forward Danielle Hogarth (Jarrettsville, Md./The Bryn Mawr School), forward Taylor Timko (Rochester Hills, Mich./Pontiac Notre Dame Prep), midfielder Rubina Veerakone (Caledonia, Mich./Caledonia), midfielder Courtney Parr (Rockville, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel), midfielder Kendall Kramer (Novi, MIch./Novi) and goalkeeper Sarah Jackson (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional).
