Nikki Nemitz recently completed her second year as a volunteer coach for the Wolverines in 2013. Nemitz joined the U-M coaching staff in 2012 after completing a successful playing career for the Maize and Blue.
Nemitz, a four-year letterwinner from 2007-10, is just one of three Wolverines in school history to earn All-Big Ten first-team honors in all four seasons. She was a three-time All-American, nabbing first-team honors as a junior (2009), second team as a senior (2010) and a third-team selection as a sophomore (2008). She was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Year in 2009 and shared Big Ten Player of the Year honors with Maggie Viefhaus in 2010. She threw one of Michigan's seven perfect games on Feb. 23, 2008, an 8-0 win over Birmingham Southern.
Nemitz was selected by the Chicago Bandits as the fourth overall pick in the 2010 National Professional Fastpitch league senior draft. She is in her fourth season of professional softball for the Bandits. Nemitz plans to begin an MBA program with a focus on marketing at Eastern Michigan University in the fall of 2013.
