LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Heavy rains in Southern California forced organizers of the Louisville Slugger Invitational to cancel Friday's (Feb. 28) slate of games, including a pair of contests for the No. 6-ranked University of Michigan softball team.
The Wolverines will not play Nevada or No. 5 UCLA due to the cancellations, and no makeup dates will be planned as part of the tournament.

Action is scheduled to resume for the Maize and Blue on Saturday (March 1) against Utah Valley and host Long Beach State at the Louisville Slugger Invitational. Michigan is scheduled to play both games of the doubleheader at Mayfair Park in Lakewood, Calif. First pitch against Utah Valley was originally slated for 11:30 a.m. PT, but has been moved back to 1:30 p.m. PT.
