U-M Senior Outfielder Nicole Sappingfield
On her hot hitting over the past few weeks ... "I think my mindset has changed a little bit. I'm going up there being more aggressive with every single pitch and really maintaining a one-pitch focus."
On how her hitting helps spark the lineup ... "It helps the confidence when (Lyndsay Doyle and I) get it done. Everyone else goes up with the same attitude and it sets the pace, and that's what we need."
On the tendency to hit away more and slap less ... "It's kind of my mindset and what I'm seeing. I'm seeing the ball really well this year and I'm more aggressive. I feel more confident with my playing and it's showing."
On the team's offensive output this weekend ... "I think it's great, I'm really excited about it. We are seeing production from the entire lineup and we need to keep it up."
On reserve outfielders Katie Luetkens and Brandi Virgil hitting home runs on Friday ... "It just makes me so excited to see everyone performing especilally when they get in to hit and it shows how strong our lineup is, not just the nine regulars, every single one of us can be counted on to perform."
On what the team learned from this weekend ... "I think we learned to not get too high on ourselves, no matter what the outcome is, we need to come out and attack. So next week we're planning on doing the same thing."
