U-M Junior Outfielder Katie Luetkens
On hitting her first home run ... "You work hard all week on different mechanics and having the opportunity to come out and display that can remind you why you work so hard all week, and it also serves as a reminder to never be satisfied."
On seeing all of her teammates greeting her at home plate ... "As I was rounding third Hutch had a big smile on her face and gave me a high-five - everything kind of slowed down and I thought about how many people wished they could have that moment, and it feels great to have the opportunity. To experience running in and knowing each one of my teammates are excited for me and have confidence in me, it's the greatest feeling in the world. We're so close and we work hard and do everything together."
On coming up with a big win on Alumni Night ... "The big thing with Michigan that we focus on is that Michigan isn't for a day, it's for life. So much has changed since some of these alums were here - there wasn't always a locker room or the great facility we have at Alumni Field - to be able to see how the program has grown and see how we as players have grown is great, but it comes down to one simple thing: we want to win for Michigan. Everyone is connected."
U-M Junior Outfielder Lyndsay Doyle
On her productive day at the plate ... "I've just been working hard and getting back to being comfortable, I wasn't quite in rhythm but putting in that work is helping me feel good, and working with the coaches and the other slappers is getting me comfortable at the plate."
On her first home run ..."I was just seeing the ball real well, and sometimes that just happens. It did feel good - I've never hit a home run ever in my life - so it was just fun, it was a blast."
On seeing her teammates at home plate to greet her ... "It's hard to describe, it was really cool to see how pumped they were after what I did. It's awesome to see how excited we all get for each other."
On a big win in the Big Ten ... "Our motto is to take one pitch at a time and I think we did that very well. Whatever happens is out of our control, except for playing Michigan softball. If we play Michigan softball, it makes for a good day."
