Michigan Head Coach Carol Hutchins
On the intense atmosphere at today's game ... "That's why we came up with the three-game series, a Super Regional-type feel. But Alumni Field is just awesome; it was so exciting on the field. The crowd was revved up, and I loved it. When Sierra (Romero) gets hit, she is a free base, and she ended up being a run (many times). It's huge when she gets hit and gets that free base. And the kids behind her have done a great job."
On the performance of the team on Senior Day ... "It's always fun to see kids come in as freshman and leave as seniors. This class has been very impressive, they've been great. To pull off a championship and do what they've done, they've been a little under the radar. But they have grown up and been great leaders."
On possibly playing some teams Michigan has not seen yet at the Big Ten tournament ... "That would be fun, and I'm looking forward to it. It's exciting, you talk about pressure -- you're only guaranteed one game. We've got one game left in our Big Ten season, and we're going to have to earn every other one of them."
U-M Senior Infielder Ashley Lane
On Senior Day ... "People have been asking me all week how I feel, and my response has always been that it is surreal. It hasn't sunk in yet, but it's great to have all the fans out there supporting us and my team is great to be with."
On hitting a home run and taking advantage of free passes ... "It was a tight game and that gave us a lift. It helps a ton that Sierra gets on base and Caitlin gets on base, and someone needs to step up and be clutch. We believe in our entire team that we can do that."
On the intensity of the crowd ... "I feel like that is the most intense crowd I've seen and I loved it."
On a special memory from today ... "It's special whenever my parents get to come out. The exciting thing is that this team is not done yet and we get to keep playing."
