With today's win, Michigan improved to 48-53-1 in the all-time series against Iowa.
The Big Ten title is the 13th for the Wolverines in program history and the third in as many years. All 13 titles have come over the last 19 seasons. While Michigan has previously repeated as the Big Ten champion six times, it has never before won three consecutive conference titles.
Junior RHP Jordan Taylor upped her season strikeout total to 278 and moved to eighth among Michigan's single-season leaders in the category. Taylor also owns the sixth (285, 2009) and seventh (279, 2008) positions on the list.
Sophomore second baseman Amanda Chidester's seventh-inning single extended her hitting streak to a season-best six straight games. Sophomore leftfielder Bree Evans extended her hit streak to three games.
The Wolverines failed to register an extra-base hit for just the fourth time this season.
