PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Senior Taylor Hasselbach (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) of the No. 6-ranked University of Michigan softball team was named the Big Ten Player of the Week by the conference office today (Tuesday, March 18) for her powerful weekend at the Class Act Federal Credit Union Classic in Louisville, Ky. This is the first weekly honor of Hasselbach's career.

The senior batted .667 (6-for-9) with six runs batted in and helped the Wolverines compile a perfect 3-0 record. Three of her six hits were for extra bases, including a home run against Louisville (March 15).

Hasselbach started the weekend with a bang, driving in three runs with a double in the first inning against Kent State (March 15). She added two more RBI in the game with a sacrifice fly and another double. The lefty designated player finished the game with a career high five RBI and tied a U-M season high (Sierra Romero, March 5).

Hasselbach collected a hit in each game and slugged 1.222 during the tournament. She also racked up an on-base percentage of .700. One of the interesting stats to come out of the weekend was Hasselbach's batting with two outs: she was a perfect 3-for-3.

The Wolverines have now won six Big Ten weekly honors in the season's first six weeks. The only week the squad did not win an award, U-M had four games rained out.
