LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Sophomore pitcher Sara Driesenga (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville) of the No. 14-ranked University of Michigan softball team won the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association National Player of the Week award today (Tuesday, March 19) for her performance at the Judi Garman Classic. It is the second weekly honor for Driesenga following her Big Ten Pitcher of the Week award (March 18).

The next day she pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless relief against No. 2 Arizona State, helping U-M's offense erase a two-run deficit for a 5-4 win. She followed up that performance with a six-inning complete game against No. 14 Arizona. Driesenga also knocked in two runs in the win over the Wildcats.
For the season, Driesenga is 16-5 in the circle with a 1.48 earned-run average and 124 strikeouts in 128 innings pitched. As U-M's cleanup hitter she is batting .264 with four doubles, two home runs, 19 walks and 25 RBI.
