Question of the Week: What do people not know about you?

April 16, 2012

Each week during the 2012 season, will ask each member of the University of Michigan softball team the same question as the "Question of the Week."

Week 11: What is something that most people do not know about you?

Stephanie Speierman -- Something most people don't know about me is that one of my goals is to visit all the major league baseball parks. For my 10th birthday, my dad and I took a road trip to several different major and minor league ballparks. So far, I have been to Camden Yards, PNC Park, Comiskey Park, Wrigley Field, Jacobs Field, Fenway Park, Coors Field and Veteran's Stadium.

Bree Evans -- I am a black belt and have one great roundhouse kick.

Amanda Chidester -- Growing up I always wanted to play basketball at UCONN or Duke! I played AAU basketball and loved every second of it. It wasn't until the end of freshman year in high school when I decided softball was the way to go. I figured that being outside everyday would be way better than being in a hot gym. I have to say, though, I miss basketball so much!

Taylor Hasselbach -- I am really scared of snakes, but my roommate decided it would be a good idea to let a five-foot boa in our house.

Becca Garfinkel -- Most people don't know that I lived in London for four years during my childhood, from age five to nine. I had a killer British accent that I, unfortunately, have since lost.

Amy Knapp -- One thing that people may not know about me is that I'm super obsessed with music, in a super emo kind of way. I can't go a day without listening to music.

Jaclyn Crummey -- I can still identify the original 150 Pokémon. I'm sure it'll come in handy one day.

Nicole Sappingfield -- When I was growing up, my mom originally wanted me to show horses rather than play sports. She actually gave me riding lessons for a few years. One day when I was riding, my horse Colleen broke into a canter and I freaked out and started screaming and got thrown off. I decided to stick to softball after that.

Hilary Payne -- I know other people find this strange, but I always read the end of a book first. When I'm reading, I like to know what's going to happen. I think you can catch little things you would have otherwise missed if you didn't know how the book was going to end. I also hate suspense, so I like already knowing what is going to happen next as I read.

Haylie Wagner -- I don't have anything fun, but I can touch my tongue to the tip of my nose. I have been able to do it for as long as I can remember, and I'm the only one in my family that can!

Brandi Virgil -- Something most people don't know about me is that I am a country girl with a hidden talent that I can rap.

Sara Driesenga -- Something people probably don't know about me is that I was in a really bad car accident when I was five. I was flown to the hospital in a helicopter because I had a liver laceration. Everything turned out okay though! Another fact about me, which everyone on the team knows, is that I couldn't live without hairspray.

Lyndsay Doyle -- I have a really good sense of smell and I smell everything!

Mandy Gardner -- When I was little I was almost in an Oscar Mayer Wiener commercial. I guess I didn't have what it took...that or I was too good of a singer!

Katie Luetkens -- Something fun that most people don't know about me is that I lived in the country of Belgium when I was in eighth grade. We were transferred over there because of my dad's job and had to learn to speak French and live in an entirely different culture. I went to an international school and played sports but instead of traveling state to state, we traveled country to country! Even though it was really difficult and we didn't always like it, it was a great experience and it taught me lots of things.

Ashley Lane -- I have two different thumbs. One is my dad's and one is my mom's. It is awesome! (Editor's note: Ashley's thumbs are completely different. This is an entirely true statement.)
