ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan softball team announced its schedule for the 2013 season on Wednesday (Oct. 24). The Wolverines, who have won five consecutive Big Ten titles, will play in six non-conference tournaments to start the season and host 17 games at the Wilpon Complex, home of Alumni Field.
U-M will kick off the 2013 season at the USF Tournament in Tampa, Fla., Feb. 8-10. The Wolverines will also participate in the FAU Kickoff Classic (Feb. 16-17), the NFCA Leadoff Classic (Feb. 22-24), the Citrus Classic (March 1-3), the Red and Black Tournament (March 8-9) and the Judi Garman Classic (March 14-16).
The Wolverines will make their home debut with a three-game series against Purdue, March 22-24. U-M will have four Big Ten series at home and will also host one game of its annual home-and-home series with Michigan State.
The Maize and Blue will once again host the Michigan Softball Academy, which is in its fourth year, on May 2 prior to a weekend series against Northwestern.
The Big Ten Tournament returns to the schedule for the first time since 2008, with second-year member Nebraska hosting the event May 9-12.
U-M returns 15 letterwinners from last year's team, which won its fifth consecutive Big Ten championship and advanced to Super Regional action in the NCAA Tournament.
