ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan head softball coach Carol Hutchins announced on Monday (Nov. 21) the hiring of former student manager Erin McLaughlin as the director of softball operations.
"We are excited to have Erin back," Hutchins said. "She is prepared for this moment, and I know that she will do a great job. Erin will be a great asset to our program."
McLaughlin, a 2011 Michigan graduate, returns to Ann Arbor after serving as a game operations intern at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She coordinated all home game-day operations for football and softball, organized travel and lodging, managed the credentials infrastructure for the entire department and outside organizations, and designed game-day publications.
McLaughlin served as the student manager for the Wolverines from August 2008 until July 2011. She was responsible for creating and maintaining an organization system for the equipment storage room; assisting the director of softball operations with coordination of team meals, transportation, and travel arrangements; and capturing video during team practices and games.
During her time as student at U-M, McLaughlin also worked in the media relations department, helping Michigan host the 2009 NCAA Ann Arbor Softball Regional. She also worked for two years as a director's assistant with Michigan Sports Television, where she attended sporting events to take game notes and operate the camera on set for "Inside Michigan Football."
McLaughlin earned a bachelor's degree in sport management from Michigan in May 2011.
