Getting to Know Team 37's Freshmen: Abby Ramirez

The Michigan softball season is just a few months away -- the first game is Saturday, Feb. 8. will be introducing one of the team's four freshmen each Tuesday during the month of November. In the final installment of the series meet Abby Ramirez, an infielder from Chicago, Ill.

What is your earliest softball memory?
Making the Clear Ridge All-Star team when I was eight years-old and then hitting the game-winning double in the championship game.

What is your favorite softball memory?
One of my favorite memories is when I was 12 years-old. My team and I played in the Hall of Fame Tournament in Oklahoma City on the field that holds the Women's College World Series. It was so cool playing on that field and I can't wait to be back there someday soon.

What has been your favorite class so far?
So far my favorite class is Psych 111 because I am considering it as a major and think it is very interesting.

What TV shows are waiting on your Netflix queue?
Vampire Diaries! I can watch that show for hours and the cast is so good looking.

What pregame music do you listen to and why?
I like to listen to some Eminem, Drake and Nicki Minaj because they all have good pump up music.

Who is your role model?
My sister because she is the funniest and most responsible person I know and I always look to her for advice.

What is your "hidden talent"?
I've been told I can make pretty good monkey noises.

What country would you most like to vacation in?
I've always wanted to go to visit Australia because it is so beautiful and there is so much to do there.

What is your dream job?
My dream job would be working for ESPN because I love sports, and could still be involved with them after college.

What has been your favorite Michigan memory so far?
There are so many great memories already, but my favorite so far was probably be going to the Notre Dame game and being a part of a record -breaking crowd. I went to the game with some teammates and sat in the student section. The energy and spirit was just an amazing thing to be a part of.

What is your favorite book and why?
Probably The Hunger Games because I loved all the characters in it.

What athlete's career would you most like to have?
Jennie Finch or Jessica Mendoza because they both had amazing collegiate careers and had the opportunity to represent the USA at the Olympics. Also, now they are both broadcasting for softball, which would be awesome.

Who is in your Twitter avatar picture with you and why?
My avatar picture is of Kelly (Christner) and me because as roommates we have gotten so much closer this year. Also, it was a nice picture of both of us, which never happens.

What celebrity or public figure would you like to be Facebook friends with?
It would be really cool to be Facebook friends with Nick Jonas because I've had a crush on him since I was in sixth grade.

Which celebrity or public figure would you like to be retweeted by?
Simon Cowell because he just seems like the coolest guy ever.

When did you know Michigan was the right school for you?
As soon as I visited campus I knew it was the perfect school for me. After watching practice I saw the team's chemistry and wanted to be a part of such an amazing and well-represented program. Also, after attending my first football game I saw the amazing school spirit and atmosphere that was here and knew I wanted to be a part of it.
