Chen Makes Return on Day Two of Zone Diving

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- A trio of divers from the No. 21-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team competed on the one-meter springboard today (Friday, March 15) at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships in the Boilermaker Aquatic Center. Sophomore Carey Chen (Vancouver, British Columbia/University Hill Secondary) was the highest scoring Wolverine with 244.85 points, good enough for 26th place.

The Zone Championships mark Chen's return to competition. She had not competed since the Purdue Invitational Nov. 16-18 while battling an injury.

Junior Erin Bridgewater (Kawkawlin, Mich./Bay City Western) finished two spots behind Chen at 28th (244.30). Freshman Sarah Kamstra (Zeeland, Mich./Zeeland West) placed 46th with 214.60 points.

Bridgewater and sophomore Marina Nazario (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) will compete on the final day of competition at Zones tomorrow (Saturday, March 16) from the platform. Preliminaries begin at 11 a.m. inside the Boilermaker Aquatic Center.
