PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Sophomore Adrienne Bicek (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) won the 200-yard butterfly and 500-yard freestyle to lead the University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team on day one (Friday, Nov. 5) of a double-dual meet at Stanford against the host Cardinal and Florida, held at the Avery Aquatic Center. U-M trails both Stanford (176-66) and Florida (169-74) heading into Saturday (Nov 6).
Bicek, who earned Big Ten Co-Swimmer of the Week honors on Tuesday (Nov. 2), was Michigan's lone victor of the night, taking top honors in the 200-yard butterfly (1:59.41) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:50.07). Her times met the NCAA 'B' standard in both races for the second straight weekend.
Senior Natasha Moodie (Miramar, Fla./Miramar) entered the meet unbeaten in the 50-yard freestyle, suffering her first defeat in the event this season. Despite the fourth-place finish, she managed to shave two-tenths of a second off her previous season-high time, inching closer to the NCAA 'B' standard; she was only seven-hundredths off the mark.
Junior Amanda Lohman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) continued the stellar start to her junior campaign, finishing second on the one-meter board (293.90) and third on the three-meter board (302.40).
Michigan returns to the pool tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 6) for the final day of the meet at the Avery Aquatic Center. Action begins at 9 a.m. PDT.

Though the first CSCAA poll of the 2010-11 season is set to be released in the coming weeks, Florida and Stanford were the top two teams in the country from last season. Florida won the national team title over Stanford by 2.5 points at the 2010 NCAA Championships.
This is the third straight year that the three teams have met in a double-dual setting, with each school getting a turn at their home pool. The three teams first met in Ann Arbor in 2009 and in Gainesville, Fla., last season.
Michigan is winless in dual meets all-time against both Florida (0-9) and Stanford (0-7).
Bicek finished 11-hundredths ahead of Jamie Bohunicky (Florida) in the 500-yard freestyle.
