GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team came up short against two of the nation top 10 swimming squads, falling to Stanford (307-122) and Florida (292-137) at the Gators' Stephen C O'Connell Center Natatorium. With the dual meet losses, Michigan drops to 3-4 on the season.

Michigan collected five top-five finishes, led by senior Margaret Kelly (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer), who finished second in the 100-yard butterfly and touched the wall fourth in the 50-yard freestyle. Freshman Julia Andracki (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) took home third in the 100-yard breaststroke, while sophomore Liz Johnson (Milford, Mich./Milford) claimed a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.

Senior Leigh Cole (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) came up just short of her season-best time in the 100-yard freestyle, coming in fourth with a time of 51.45.

Michigan also scored two top-five finishes in the only relays of the day. The team of Johnson, Andracki, sophomore Caitlin Dauw (St. Charles, Ill./East) and sophomore Liz Koselka (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) swam to a fourth-place showing in the 200-yard medley relay (1:46.25). In the meet's final event, the 200-yard freestyle relay, the quartet of Kelly, L. Cole, sophomore Alexa Mehesan (West Des Moines, Iowa/Valley) and K. Cole put together the team's second-fastest time of the season (1:35.25).

The Wolverines return to the pool Nov. 20-22, when they travel to West Lafayette, Ind., to participate in the Purdue Invitational.
