PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- University of Michigan junior Angela Chokran (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) earned Big Ten Women's Swimmer of the Week honors from the conference office today (Tuesday, Jan. 22). It is the second time this season she has won the award and the second such honor of her career.
Chokran helped No. 24 U-M Michigan topple No. 15 Ohio State on Friday (Jan. 18), winning the 100-yard (1:01.68) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:14.33). She also swam one leg of Michigan's first-place 200-yard medley relay (1:41.26) and finished fifth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.61).
She earned her first weekly honor of the season for her performance in a dual meet against Wisconsin in the season opener. In that meet, she touched first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.78) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.64) as well.
Michigan faces another rival in the pool this Friday (Jan. 25), traveling to Michigan State for a dual meet at 6 p.m. in East Lansing
