PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Junior Erin Bridgewater (Kawkawlin, Mich./Bay City Western) of the University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team earned Big Ten Diver of the Week honors from the conference office today (Tuesday, Feb. 19). It is the first weekly honor of her career.
Bridgewater achieved a score of 255.85 from the platform to take first place during the Michigan First Chance Meet (Feb. 16-17) inside Canham Natatorium. The score is a career best for Bridgewater, and it also qualifies her for the NCAA Zone C Diving meet, set to be held March 14-16 in West Lafayette, Ind.
Bridgewater is the second Michigan diver to win weekly honors, following Carey Chen who won on Oct. 2, 2012.
This week Michigan heads to the Big Ten Championships Wed-Sat., Feb. 20-23, in Minneapolis, Minn. The meet begins inside the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center with two events on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. CST. Preliminary events begin each subsequent day at 11 a.m. CST, with finals beginning at 6:30 pm. CST.
