Four divers from the No. 17-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team will attempt to qualify for the NCAA Championships this weekend at the NCAA Zone C Diving Regionals at the Councilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington, Ind. One-meter diving begins at 1 p.m. on Thursday (March 8), with three-meter at 1 p.m. on Friday (March 9) and platform at 11 a.m. on Saturday (March 10).

How to Qualify For NCAA Championships
The allotment of divers that will be sent to the NCAA Championships is determined on how divers from that zone did at last year's NCAA Championships. Who's Going?
Four women's divers -- senior Amanda Lohman, sophomore Erin Bridgewater and freshmen Carey Chen and Marina Nazario -- will represent the Wolverines at the zone meet this weekend.

Lohman has set new career highs on all three boards this season, and qualified for the NCAA Championships each of the last two seasons. Bridgewater competed at the zone meet last season as a freshman. Chen has a qualifying score on all three boards, while Nazario has a qualifying score on three-meter only.

Head Coach KZ Li
The Michigan divers are under the direction of KZ Li, who is in his second year in Ann Arbor.

Li has spent his entire 20-year career as a head coach. Prior to coming to Michigan, he was co-head coach of the U.S. Elite Diving Academy in Columbus, Ohio, from 2008-10. Before that, Li led the National Training Centre of Diving in Melbourne, Australia, from 2006-08. In Melbourne, Li's divers won 14 gold medals at the 2007 and 2008 Australian Elite Junior National Championships and two bronze medals at the 2008 Junior World Championships. His divers also won one gold and two silvers at the 2008 Australian Open (Senior) National Championships, with one diver finishing as high as fifth at the 2008 FINA World Championships.

He has Big Ten experience, as he was the head diving coach at the University of Minnesota for seven years (1996-2003), where he produced eight NCAA All-Americans, six Big Ten champions and 45 Big Ten Championships finalists. In addition, three of his divers won Big Ten Diver of the Year and four were selected as Big Ten Diver of the Championships. Li is a two-time Big Ten Diving Coach of the Year, winning the honor in 2001 (men) and 1998 (women).

U-M at NCAA Championships
Senior Caitlin Dauw will be the only swimmer representing Michigan at the 2012 NCAA Championships next week in Auburn, Ala. Dauw will swim the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard butterfly.
