ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Seniors Caitlin Dauw (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) and Amanda Lohman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) will represent the University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team at the 2012 NCAA Championships, which run from Thursday (March 15) through Saturday (March 17) inside the James E. Martin Aquatics Center in Auburn, Ala. Preliminaries will begin at 11 a.m. (CDT), with finals later in the day at 6:30 p.m.
Dauw will swim the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard butterfly, while Lohman will dive in the one-meter, three-meter and platform competitions. The 50-yard freestyle and one-meter diving will take place on Thursday, the 100-yard butterfly and three-meter diving will take place on Friday, and the 200-yard butterfly and platform diving will take place on Saturday.
Dauw is making her second appearance at the NCAA Championships after earning three NCAA All-America Honorable Mentions last season as a junior, including a 10th-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly. She is ranked 16th in the 100-yard butterfly (52.50), 31st in the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.42), and 65th in the 50-yard freestyle (22.89). Lohman is making her third trip to NCAAs, having finished as high as 18th on one-meter (2010) and 30th on three-meter (2011).
Athletes that finish in the top eight earn first team All-America status, while those that finish 9-16 will be placed on the second team.
Auburn will stream the preliminaries each day for free, as well as the finals on Thursday night. ESPN3.com will stream the finals on Friday and Saturday through ESPN3.com.
