ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The incoming class of the University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team received the No. 2 ranking in the country by SwimSwam.com as announced Friday (July 11) by the online source for aquatics news.
The incoming class of signees includes swimmers Gillian Ryan (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown Area HS), Hannah Moore (Cary, N.C./Green Hope HS), Clara Smiddy (Miami, Fla.), Emily Kopas (Davie, Fla./University School), Carolyn McCann (Federal Way, Wash./Gig Harbor HS), Gabby DeLoof (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South HS) and Samantha Yeo (Singapore/Raffles Girls' School) and diver Juliette Corboy (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier HS).
These student-athletes will join 27 returnees for the third year of head coach Mike Bottom's tenure guiding both U-M swimming and diving programs.
SwimSwam says of the recruiting class that, "it's becoming clear that coach Mike Bottom has a good thing going in Ann Arbor." The ranking continued by saying, "Bottom has clearly convinced the class of 2014 that they're jumping into a program on the rise."
"This class aspires to be and will be champions," says Bottom of the incoming freshmen. "We look forward to helping foster this group into the leaders and best."
