AUSTIN, Texas -- The No. 17-ranked University of Michigan women's tennis team won the doubles point and all six singles matches -- including the first three off the court in straight sets -- to sweep No. 24 Texas, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon (March 8) at the Edgar O. and Melanie A. Weller Tennis Center.

U-M was victorious in the first doubles match off court, as the pair of junior Sarah Lee (Los Angeles, Calif./Campbell Hall) and sophomore Amy Zhu (Newark, Del./Laurel Springs) raced out to an early 4-1 lead before taking an 8-4 win.

The match at No. 1 was back and forth in the early going, staying on serve for the first seven games. U-M duo of senior Brooke Bolender (Delray Beach, Fla./Kaplan) and junior Emina Bektas (Indianapolis, Ind./New Braunfels) went up a break at 5-3 en route to an 8-4 victory to wrap up the doubles point.

At No. 3, freshman Laura Ucros (Bogota, Colombia/Fundación Nuevo Marymount) and sophomore Ronit Yurovsky (New Kensington, Pa./Plum) fell behind early but battled back to keep their match on court before it was ultimately abandoned on serve at 6-5.

Bolender quickly extended Michigan's lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 over No. 76 Ratnika Batra. Zhu followed with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 5 to push Michigan's advantage to 3-0.

Yurovsky had a set in hand when the second set headed to a tiebreaker at No. 2 against No. 106 Elizabeth Begley. Yurovsky was down 5-2 in the breaker before rallying for a 10-8 win for the 6-3, 7-6 (8) decision to clinch the team victory for the Maize and Blue.

Lee and Ucros continued Michigan's singles dominance, with each winning three-set matches at Nos. 3 and 6, respectively.

Bektas wrapped up U-M's perfect day with her 12th straight singles triumph, knocking off No. 16 Breaunna Addison in three sets at the top spot.
