WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The No. 16-ranked University of Michigan women's team wrapped up its fifth straight Big Ten championship and fourth undefeated conference season in program history with a 7-0 win at Purdue on Sunday afternoon (April 20) at the Schwartz Tennis Center. Michigan grabbed the outright title for the third time in the last five years and won 11 Big Ten contests for the first time in program history.

Michigan once again won the doubles point, taking decisions at No. 2 followed by No. 1. At No. 2, sophomore Ronit Yurovsky (New Kensington, Pa./Plum) and freshman Laura Ucros (Bogota, Colombia/Fundación Nuevo Marymount) dropped just one game in an 8-1 win to put Michigan on the verge of the match's first point.

U-M's No. 1 pair of senior Brooke Bolender (Delray Beach, Fla./Kaplan) and junior Emina Bektas (Indianapolis, Ind./New Braunfels) won the first two games and stayed up a least a break the rest of the way to clinch the doubles point with an 8-3 victory.

Yurovsky accounted for Michigan's second point, winning a two-set match at No. 2 (6-1, 6-2) before the matches on courts 4, 5, and 6 even completed the first set.

Bektas increased Michigan's lead to 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 1, as the junior completed the Big Ten portion of the season with a 10-1 mark at the top of the lineup.

Junior Sarah Lee (Los Angeles, Calif./Campbell Hall) was the clinching point for the Maize and Blue, rolling to a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 3 over Nicole Robinson.

Ucros, Bolender and sophomore Amy Zhu (Newark, Del./Laurel Springs) each followed with wins as U-M did not allow a point to Purdue on the afternoon. Bolender won in straight sets, with Zhu and Ucros each winning in 10-point tiebreakers in lieu of a third set.

Michigan will be the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Big Ten Tournament and receive a bye into quarterfinal action on Friday (April 25). Michigan will face the winner of the No. 8 versus No. 9 match on Friday morning at 10 a.m. The tournament is being held in Evanston, Ill.
