Michigan Head Coach Ronni Bernstein
On the doubles point ... "It was good. Our top team is just playing at a really high level right now, and that has such an impact on us. When they are playing like that, their energy is contagious. At No. 3, I thought we really fought and hung in there. That was nice to see that they kept fighting when they were down in that match. Mimi (Nguyen) and Sarah (Lee) played great today as well after falling behind early. I was happy that Mimi got to end her career with a big win like that. The doubles point really set the tone for the match."
On if winning the doubles point contributed to the start in singles ... "We have won matches with an without that first point, but it definitely helps mentally. I thought we just came out and played so well, top to bottom today. We felt confident with our matchups. Kristy (Dodge) did a great job, and Sarah won a close first set. It was a team effort. When we are playing well, we can beat anybody. We have shown that. I was just so happy that we came out and played well as a team."
On advancing to the team's fourth straight Sweet 16 ... "The girls in the program, this is what they expect. They expect success. They play hard for each other and really care about each other. They fight and compete hard. It was a goal for us this season to get back to the Sweet 16, and we have been able to achieve that. Now we are hoping to take it a step further. This is a group that really believes."
