ATHENS, Ga. -- Junior Emina Bektas (Indianapolis, Ind./New Braunfels) and senior Brooke Bolender (Delray Beach, Fla./Kaplan) were eliminated in the first round of the NCAA Doubles Championship as the University of Michigan women's team concluded its season on Thursday afternoon (May 22) at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Bektas and Bolender were broken in their second service game of the first set, eventually falling in a 3-1 hole to Pleun Burgmans and Emily Flickinger of Auburn. Bektas held serve in the fifth game, and Michigan broke the Tigers in the sixth to even the score at 3-3. Michigan's momentum was halted in the next game as Auburn broke back, clinching the game on a double fault for a 4-3 advantage. Auburn won the next two games for the 6-3 first-set win.

The two teams stayed on serve in the second set through seven games, until Auburn broke Michigan on Bolender's serve to go up 5-3. Michigan staved off one match point in the next game, but the Tigers converted on their second for a 6-3, 6-3 win.

Bektas and Bolender were ranked No. 18 entering the tournament and finish the season with a 26-10 overall record.

The loss wraps up the career of Bolender, who leaves Michigan as the all-time leader in singles (112), doubles (121) and combined wins (233).
