ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Sophomore Ronit Yurovsky (New Kensington, Pa./Plum) won the singles title as the University of Michigan women's tennis team completed competition at the Wolverine Invitational on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 22) at the Varsity Tennis Center.
Yurovsky went 4-0 in singles action, winning three times at the No. 2 position and once at the No. 1 slot. In today's action against Arizona State, Yurovsky cruised at the top spot past Stephanie Vlad, 6-2, 6-3. Vlad and Yurovsky entered the match as the tournament's top scorers, with the winner securing the title.
U-M won one doubles match on the final day of competition, with Remynse and sophomore Amy Zhu (Newark, Del./Laurel Springs) teaming up for an 8-5 win at No. 3 against Notre Dame.
Michigan will next be in competition when the calendar flips to October (1-6) with a quartet of Wolverines in action at the ITA All-American. Junior Emina Bektas (Indianapolis, Ind./New Braunfels) and senior Brooke Bolender (Delray Beach, Fla./Kaplan) will compete in the doubles main draw, with Bektas slated to compete in the singles main draw. Yurovsky and Lee will each compete in the qualifying singles draw, as well as the doubles qualifying draw.
