CHICAGO, Ill. -- On Thursday (Jan. 13), the Big Ten Network announced plans to broadcast a University of Michigan men's and women's tennis doubleheader in February. The teams will both play Vanderbilt on Sunday, Feb. 13, and the matches will air on the Big Ten Network on tape delay.
The Michigan women's team, currently ranked No. 8 in the nation, will kick off things against No. 26 Vanderbilt at 10:30 a.m., with the match replaying on the BTN on Sunday, Feb. 20, at 11 a.m. The U-M men, ranked No. 25, will square off against the No. 39-ranked Commodores at 2 p.m., with the match airing on Sunday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m.
It will be the first of two times the BTN visits the Varsity Tennis Center this season for women's tennis, as the Wolverines play host to the 2011 Big Ten Tournament, April 28-May 1. The championship match will air on the Big Ten Network.
The Michigan men's and the women's teams both will be in action this weekend at the Varsity Tennis Center. The men's team opens the dual match portion of its schedule by hosting Western Michigan on Saturday (Jan. 15) at 6 p.m., while the women's team hosts the Michigan Invitational, which runs Saturday through Monday (Jan. 15-17) and features No. 13 Tennessee, No. 16 Georgia Tech and No. 23 Washington.
