PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- After going 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles while helping the University of Michigan women's team to a 2-0 week, freshman Ronit Yurovsky (New Kensington, Pa./Plum) was named the Big Ten Tennis Athlete of the Week on Wednesday (March 6). It is the second time this season that she has won the weekly honor.

Yurovsky was instrumental in helping Michigan knock off No. 2 Duke, the highest-ranked opponent the Wolverines have ever beaten in school history, on March 1. She teamed up with sophomore Sarah Lee (Los Angeles, Calif./Campbell Hall) for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles as Michigan won the doubles point for the early lead. The Wolverine freshman clinched U-M's 4-3 win over the Blue Devils, delivering a 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 win at No. 2 over No. 38 Ester Goldfeld.

In Michigan's 7-0 defeat of Michigan State on Feb. 27, Yurovsky made her first appearance at the No. 1 singles position and come through with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over MSU's Marina Bohrer. Yurovsky has won 15 consecutive singles matches that have finished.

The Wolverines are back in action against San Diego on Friday (March 8) at 1:30 p.m. PST.
