INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The No. 17-ranked University of Michigan women's tennis team has secured an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and will face Fresno State in Los Angeles, Calif., the NCAA announced Tuesday (April 29) as part of its selection show.
Michigan (21-4) and Fresno State (16-8) will face off Friday, May 9, at 11 a.m. PDT, to be followed by host USC (16-7), the No. 16 seed in this year's tournament, playing Idaho (19-5) at 2 p.m. PDT. Friday's winners will meet Saturday, May 10, at 3 p.m. PDT. All matches will be played at USC's Marks Stadium.
Michigan will be making its 13th straight appearance in the national tournament and will be in search of the team's fifth straight berth in the Round of 16.
The Wolverines are 21-4 overall and won the program's fifth straight Big Ten title this season with an 11-0 mark. U-M advanced to the Big Ten Tournament final, falling to Northwestern to snap its 13-match winning streak. Michigan features four ranked singles players, highlighted by No. 10-ranked junior Emina Bektas (Indianapolis, Ind./New Braunfels).
The Michigan men's team will also be competing in NCAA action hosted by Southern Cal on May 10-11.
