Bektas, Bolender and Yurovsky Selected for NCAA Individuals

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Three members of the University of Michigan women's tennis team will participate in the 2013 NCAA Individual Championships as the selections was released by the NCAA on Wednesday (May 1).

Sophomore Emina Bektas (Indianapolis, Ind./New Braunfels) and junior Brooke Bolender (Delray Beach, Fla./Kaplan) will make their second consecutive appearance in the doubles tournament, securing a 5-8 seed. The U-M pair is currently ranked seventh in the country and went 23-6 in action this season, including an 18-4 mark at the top spot in dual matches. Bolender is making her third straight appearance in the doubles tournament after pairing with former Wolverine Denise Muresan (2008-11) in the 2011 tournament.

In addition, Bektas and freshman Ronit Yurovsky (New Kensington, Pa./Plum) will participate in the single championship. Bektas carries a 24-8 singles record, including a 19-4 record in dual matches, and is making her second straight appearance in the tournament. Yurovsky was named the 2013 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and is a team-best 30-8, going 18-4 in dual matches.

The singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 22-27 at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex/Atkins Tennis Center in Urbana, Ill., following the conclusion of the team championship, which runs from May 17-21. Illinois-Champaign will serve as host.

All matches will be the best of three sets. Regular scoring and a 12-point tiebreaker at six games all will be used for all matches.

Michigan is the No. 10 seed for the upcoming NCAA Tournament and will host IPFW, Notre Dame and NC State in regional action on May 10-11 at the Varsity Tennis Center. Michigan's first-round opponent is IPFW, with the teams squaring off on May 10 at 1 p.m.
