Emily Pendleton's toss of 15.33 meters (50-3.50) in the shot put took first, while her mark of 52.52 meters (172-4.00) in the discus was good enough for second place. Q U O T E S

Michigan Head Coach James Henry
On the team's overall performance ... "We looked a little out of step today and a little out of our element in competing against probably the top three programs in the country. I also don't think the time change worked in our favor. I'm very happy with the field events, particularly the throwers. They had a very good second meet. The 3,000 and 5,000 runners also did well."

On Emily Pendleton's impact on the team ... "It helps having her back because it solidifies that area. With her being out, that presence wasn't there. With her being back, that makes her sister (Erin Pendleton) a more competitive athlete, as well as Allison Liske. It's a positive all the way around. It's positive for her to be on board with us and with her back, it's a strong, literal indication of our overall philosophy -- we become better by helping others become better. The throwers got better just by her being eligible and because she's a better athlete. They have all stepped up because she's on board."

On keeping the team positive moving forward ... "We've got to step up now. We've got to make a positive out of this. We know that when we have a good meet, it has no bearing on the feature outside of giving confidence, but it's my job now as a coach, when you do something that wasn't what we expected, to make positives out of this. We'll bounce back and I feel good about our kids."
