ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team was led by junior Charlotte Cahill (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington), who won the 100-meter and 200-meter dash at the Hillsdale College "GINA"Realys on Saturday (April 28) at Ken Herrick Track. The Wolverines capped the two-day meet with seven event titles. Michigan was also represented by three throwers and one distance runner throughout the three-day Drake Relays (April 26-28).

Cahill clocked times of 12.28 and 24.62, respectively, to finish first in the championship division of the 100- and 200-meter dash races.

Sophomore Amber Smith (Cleveland, Ohio/Collinwood) crossed the finish line first in the 100-meter hurdles championship in 14.25 and also placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles championship in 1:03.00.

Meanwhile, junior Ada Unachukwu (Morganville, N.J./Marlboro) captured the triple jump title, reaching the 11.61-meter (38-1.25) mark.

On the final day of the Drake Relays, fifth-year senior Emily Pendleton (Lindsey, Ohio/Woodmore) represented the Maize and Blue, finishing ninth in the hammer throw with a mark of 55.49 meters (182-1). Pendleton also took fifth in the discus on Friday (April 27) with a throw of 52.86 meters (173-5) and 10th in the shot put with a season-best mark of 15.65 meters (51-4.25). Junior Erin Pendleton (Lindsey, Ohio/Woodmore) finished ninth in the discus with a throw of 52.01 meters (170-8).

On Thursday (April 26), senior Mary Grace Pellegrini (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) shaved 13 seconds off her previous season-best 5,000-meter run time to finish eighth in 16:43.22.

Eight distance runners and two pole vaulters will represent Michigan at the Payton Jordan Invitational on Sunday (April 29), beginning at 1 p.m. PDT.
